Sick Day

This morning when Josh woke up at his usual 4am, he decided that he was too tired to go to work. So, he decided to stay home and enjoy the 84 degree weather with his family. First, we took the John Boat that he got for Christmas out on the lake for a test float. It was an interesting experience. We haven't purchased a motor for it yet, so we used the oars to paddle around the lake. This would have been great if I didn't have to try to paddle with one arm while trying to keep Annelise in the boat with the other! She wanted so badly to go over the edge and play in the water (she is our little fish). Mark, on the other hand, clung with white knuckles to the sides of the boat. He kept saying that he was having so much fun, but he was shaking with fear. Hopefully someday he'll learn to enjoy the water as much as I do, but for now he is definitely his father's son. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures at the lake, so this is a picture we took of the kids in the boat on our lawn when we got home. Poor Annelise had to look like a boy. I didn't want any of her new clothes to get dirty, so I made her wear Mark's old clothes :)

After our little boat ride (and after baths - we had some seriously dirty/muddy kids after the lake), we went for a little walk and bike ride.

Mark loves riding his bike. He is always so excited to try to chase Mommy and ride as fast as his little legs will take him!We ended the day with a trip to the park. Annelise loves the swing!
All in all, we had a great family day, though we are all thoroughly worn out tonight. The sun seems to drain all of our energy!
